Glass Coffee Mugs, Visually Pleasing Drinks
Glass mugs are strong and are suitable for holding any sort of hot or cold drink, but milky coffee in a glass mug looks especially appetising. The layers in a glass mug of latte coffee, whether hot and warming, or served cold with ice on a hot day makes the mouth water. It always seems a shame to spoil the lovely appearance by drinking it!
There are also Pyrex glass mugs that are opaque so can be coloured or patterned. These are part of many casual dinnerware sets and with a matching saucer, look pretty on a table setting matching all the other plates and bowls.
Glass coffee mugs come in a wide variety of shapes. There are the same shapes as for ceramic or pottery coffee mugs, in straight, can shaped, rounded or V shapes, that are called latte glasses.
Glass coffee mugs are becoming popular in restaurants and cafes, and coffee shops, specialising in all the different coffees to be bought nowadays have a different shaped glass coffee mug for each.
- Cappuccino glass coffee mugs - in at least three sizes, small medium and large. Bowl like shaped with wide rims for lots of chocolate-topped froth.
- Latte glass coffee mugs - tall V shaped mugs makes a lovely visual latte.
- Irish coffee glass mugs - the basic Irish coffee mug has a squat stemmed base but comes in various shapes for the contents.
- Bullet or belly shaped glass mugs - tall rounded, tapering to a wider lip for normal white or black coffee.
- Espresso glass coffee mugs - tiny sweet little mugs, with a shot of extra strong black coffee.
- Frappuccino – cold coffee in a tall glass mug with ice either cubed or crushed.
There are many more types of coffee drinks; every country has their own speciality and many have their own shape of glass mug or cup.
A coffee served with a creamy or frothy topping, such as in Irish coffee, cappuccino, or latte is visually nice to look at and glass coffee mugs are ideal for these drinks.
Glass mugs can of course, be used for any other hot drinks, chocolate, tea, herbal drinks and flavoured teas. Cold drinks can also be served in glass mugs, but when does a glass mug become a glass? The only real difference is the handle on the glass mug, and maybe, the glass for cold beverages does not need to be as strong and heatproof.
In the home and in public places, glass coffee mugs are becoming more popular, they are also very strong and do not chip or break as easily as china or ceramics with normal use. They are dishwasher safe and due to the clarity of the glass more care is taken when washing them, rings left from previous drinks do not look attractive when next used. This means they are also more hygienic, which must be a plus for the glass coffee mug.
